Purpose of Role
At Dehong Secondary School, the teacher is tasked with creating a nurturing, flexible, and language-rich environment that promotes exemplary learning, student autonomy, and agency. This role involves establishing positive and caring relationships with students, their families, and fellow staff members. The teacher ignites a passion for learning within students and is adept at enhancing their knowledge and skills, enabling a more profound conceptual understanding. Collaborating with colleagues across different grade levels and throughout the school is essential to developing the Dehong curriculum and planning engaging, academically rigorous inquiry-based units aimed at enhancing each student's language abilities. The teacher is dedicated to action research and employs best practices to inform their planning, classroom strategies, and assessment techniques. A comprehensive understanding of Dehong's vision, mission, learning principles, and commitment to service and sustainability is vital.
We are looking for teachers who are not only passionate about their subjects but also eager to participate in pastoral roles, form tutoring, mentoring, and Qidi extracurricular activities within the school. This full-time teaching position comprises approximately 18*60 teaching hours per week, not including Qidi, with a maximum class size of 26 students.
Our School
Dehong Shanghai International Chinese School, the first Dehong establishment in China, is located in the Minhang District. Since its opening in September 2017, the school has expanded to accommodate over 1,000 students across both the Elementary and Secondary divisions.
In 2023, the school moved into a newly constructed Phase II campus, featuring state-of-the-art facilities, including collaborative learning spaces and dedicated areas for performing arts, sports, STEAM, and innovation. This expansion allows Dehong Shanghai to increase its capacity to 1,500 students, with on-site boarding facilities for more than 900 students.
