Humanities Teacher

The British College of Gava, an IB World School located just 20 minutes from Barcelona, is looking to hire an outstanding full-time Humanities teacher to join our expanding Secondary school starting in August 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our newly constructed, rapidly growing school equipped with exceptional facilities. We seek a motivated and well-organized individual with a strong command of the subject matter who can inspire students to learn and is eager to contribute to the broader curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare, deliver, and evaluate class or subject-related activities that enhance student learning opportunities.
• Plan lessons by set deadlines using agreed formats, ensuring that planning documents are accessible to relevant parties.
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and share insights with colleagues when appropriate.
• Create a stimulating and organized classroom environment where time and resources are utilized effectively.
• Respond promptly and constructively to student work.
• Engage students in the target-setting process.
• Assign homework that reinforces and extends classroom learning tailored to individual student needs.
• Promote good behavior among students and foster positive attitudes towards peers, adults, school property, and schoolwork.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and ensure up-to-date records are transferred when students change classes or schools.
• Foster a strong home-school partnership by consulting with and informing parents about their children’s progress, achievements, and attitudes.
• Collaborate as part of a whole school team.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential:

• UK-trained with qualified teacher status
• Bachelor's Degree
• Native-level English proficiency
• Experience teaching at the secondary school level (Humanities)

Desirable:

• Familiarity with IB programmes
• Master’s or postgraduate qualification
• Eligibility to work in the EU
