About This Role
GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is looking to appoint an exceptional Head of Year 12 starting in August 2026. The selected candidate will oversee the Year 12 student cohort.
Job Purpose:
The Head of Year 12 is responsible for guiding the academic and pastoral growth of students during their initial year of secondary education. This role emphasizes the establishment of effective routines, high expectations, and a nurturing environment where students can build confidence, independence, and a constructive approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the pastoral care and wellbeing of the Year 12 cohort.
- Foster high standards in behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Monitor students' academic progress and coordinate necessary interventions.
- Support and manage Year 12 form tutors.
- Cultivate strong relationships with parents and ensure effective communication.
- Encourage a positive culture within the year group through enrichment activities and student involvement.
- Track attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing, ensuring prompt support is provided.
- Maintain precise records while contributing to safeguarding and compliance efforts.
- Participate in school-wide priorities and initiatives.
