About This Role

Job Title: Behaviour for Learning Coordinator

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and regularly assess the effectiveness of the Behaviour and Rewards systems and policies to promote exceptional learning behaviours throughout the school.
- Provide key behaviour metrics to the senior leadership team and take necessary steps to enhance these systems.
- Offer guidance to the Assistant Principal Pastoral on behaviour-related policies and collaborate with parents and students when issues surpass the scope of the Heads of Houses.

Safeguarding:
- Serve as the Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the Primary school. Completion of the DSL training is required for this role.
- Ensure adherence to the school's child protection policy and procedures.
- Strengthen and enhance systems related to child safeguarding and protection across the primary school.
- Take charge of investigations and follow-up actions for any child protection or safeguarding incidents.

Wellbeing, Attendance and Punctuality:
- Oversee and review the wellbeing curriculum.
- Conduct surveys and analyze wellbeing data, creating action plans to enhance pastoral care.
- Track student attendance, maintain records, and analyze data to improve student attendance and reduce tardiness.

Staff Training:
- Ensure the house team effectively identifies staff professional learning and development needs for inclusion in the School Staff Development Plan.
- Provide appropriate training for staff to ensure consistent implementation of behaviour and safeguarding systems across the school.
- Inspire and empower staff members to reach their full potential as practitioners of ‘Quality Pastoral Care’.

Evaluation and Improvement Planning:
- Assess and evaluate the quality of students’ personal and social development, ensuring effective protection, care, guidance, and support (Standards 2 and 5 in the 2018 UAE Inspection Framework) and implement necessary improvements.
- Contribute to the review process through relevant reports in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Communicate evaluation results to the senior leadership team, assist in drafting the SEF/Action Plan, and utilize evaluations to effectively plan for enhancements.

Holding Others to Account:
- Establish appropriate systems and structures that hold staff accountable.
- Apply a balanced approach of support and formal procedures to ensure staff meet the high standards set by GEMS Education and The Westminster School.
- Regularly assess staff progress towards agreed improvement goals through the school’s appraisal, performance management, and line management policies.
- Use the school’s observation procedures to monitor pastoral care, behaviour for learning, and staff practices, following up with discussions on progress and areas for growth across Houses.
- Actively contribute to personal appraisal, performance management, and line management.

Policies & Procedures:
- Engage in the ongoing development and review of policies that govern school operations, ensuring staff involvement in policy development.
- Lead the creation and implementation of tailored educational and behavioural programmes to foster positive learning behaviours in children.
- Ensure that policies and procedures related to pastoral care, safeguarding, and child protection are formalized and effectively executed throughout the school.
- Assist in the planning and execution of daily pastoral care systems and schedules (e.g., breaks, arrival, dismissal).

Accountability to Stakeholders:
- Foster a school culture focused on stakeholders, aimed at improving engagement and satisfaction levels among students, parents, staff, and community members.

Skills Qualification:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Current professional learning and development related to Safeguarding and Pastoral care.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs of students.
- Training in child mental health, first aid, and safeguarding is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Pastoral Curriculum, research on learning practices, and pedagogy.
- Knowledge of child protection protocols and the necessity for compliance.
- Proficient in behaviour management techniques.
- Understanding of strategies for supporting students with diverse special needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Highly organized and efficient, capable of completing tasks within established timelines.
- Effective communicator with strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Creative thinker with the ability to devise innovative solutions to challenges.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and resilient, with an aptitude for managing time effectively under pressure.
- Sensitive to the wellbeing and pastoral care of students.
