ROLE SUMMARY:
St. Peter’s International School, located in Palmela near Lisbon, serves around 1,500 students aged from 4 months to 18 years across a spacious 37,000 m² campus. The school offers a bilingual curriculum (Portuguese/English), Cambridge programmes, and the International Baccalaureate, along with boarding options for older students. We are looking for a passionate and highly qualified Head of IB English to lead and execute the IB English Language & Literature and/or Literature programmes, starting in August for the next academic year. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced educator who is committed to academic excellence, motivating students, fostering critical thinking, and enhancing a distinguished English department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, develop, and oversee the IB English curriculum and teaching team.
- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated IB English lessons tailored to diverse learners.
- Adopt innovative teaching methods, including inquiry-based learning and the use of digital resources.
- Monitor student progress, ensuring high academic standards and effective assessment practices are upheld.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, standardization, and departmental development.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom atmosphere while promoting student well-being.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, participate in school-wide initiatives, and engage in extracurricular activities.
- Engage in continual professional development and comply with safeguarding policies.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A degree in English, Education, or a related field (a teaching qualification is essential).
- Proven experience teaching IB English (Language & Literature and/or Literature).
- Previous experience in a leadership or coordination role (preferred).
- A dedication to inspiring students and supporting both academic and personal growth.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Experience in an international or multicultural educational environment (preferred).
- Strong command of English and a deep commitment to student well-being.
