OVERVIEW:

The Kinistin First Nation is looking for an enthusiastic Elementary Teacher to become a part of our community from August 22, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The specific teaching assignment may change according to student enrollment. This position requires a deep commitment to and active participation in the mission of the NIBWAKAWIGAMIG EDUCATION CENTRE.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Instruct students in K-8 subjects such as Math, Science, ELA, Health, Social Studies, and more. Proven successful classroom experience is required.
  • Regularly assess student performance and progress to ensure they master the necessary skills.
  • Demonstrate a dedication to being part of a collaborative educational team.
  • Build meaningful and productive relationships with students, parents, professionals, and community service organizations.
  • Utilize a range of teaching strategies and activities (including songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.) to engage and motivate children.
  • Maintain regular communication with families through both routine and non-routine correspondence while ensuring student information confidentiality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal when necessary.
  • An understanding of the Nakawê Language Nation would be beneficial for connecting with families.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding family and student information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Post-Secondary Degree in Education.
  • A valid Saskatchewan Professional "A" Teaching Certificate is required.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal applicant should be punctual, articulate, efficient, discreet, and friendly in both telephone and in-person communication. Strong computer skills are essential, along with the capacity to problem-solve and implement effective solutions. Adaptability to changing situations is crucial. A commitment to understanding, respecting, and learning about the beliefs, culture, and traditions of the Nakawe Nation is necessary. A valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check must be submitted.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Compensation will be competitive and aligned with education and experience.
