About This Role
Location: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao, Tongxiang, Yantai, Hongkong.
Duties:
A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the Economics subject as outlined in the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB.
- Maintain a strong grasp of Economics to effectively address subject-related inquiries from students and be aware of common misconceptions and errors in the subject area.
- Familiarity with all secondary school curriculum and assessment guidelines.
B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Define clear instructional objectives, lesson content, structures, and sequences that are appropriate for both the subject and the students.
- Establish high standards for student learning and motivation, setting specific goals that build on prior knowledge and experiences.
- Recognize students with special educational needs as well as those who are gifted and talented, and know how to access support to provide targeted assistance. Implement and maintain records for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) when necessary.
C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Deliver effective instruction to entire classes, small groups, and individual students to achieve teaching objectives, sustain momentum, and optimize teaching time.
- Employ engaging teaching methods that stimulate students’ intellectual curiosity, incorporate effective questioning and feedback, and utilize resources effectively.
- Uphold high expectations for student behavior, fostering a positive standard of discipline through focused teaching and nurturing productive relationships.
- Encourage positive behavior, boost self-esteem, and foster independent learning in students to support their educational development within an ICT framework.
D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Evaluate the extent to which learning objectives have been met and utilize this assessment to inform future instruction.
- Grade and review students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive oral and written feedback, along with setting progress targets.
- When applicable, comprehend the expectations placed on students regarding the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5.
E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Be skilled in preparing and delivering informative reports to parents.
- Acknowledge that learning occurs beyond the school environment and create opportunities for students to connect their education with real-world scenarios.
- Recognize the importance of collaborating with external agencies.
F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Acknowledge the importance of taking charge of one’s own professional growth and staying informed about new research and developments in teaching practices and subject matter.
- Be aware of professional responsibilities concerning school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Model exemplary presentation and conduct for students.
- Critically assess one’s own teaching practices and utilize insights to enhance effectiveness.
G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Foster productive working relationships with colleagues, including co-teachers, specialists, and support staff.
H. Managing Resources:
- Select and effectively utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other educational resources that facilitate the achievement of teaching objectives.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and teaching certification or license with strong subject expertise.
- At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience in an educational setting.
