About This Role

Teacher, Social Justice/Service Learning, Senior School
Full-Time, Fixed-term Contract
September - February

Crofton House School provides a girl-centered educational environment for learners from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. Our students are encouraged to reach their full potential, embracing academic challenges and a variety of experiences, all while being supported by dedicated staff who are invested in their success. At Crofton House School, we nurture a strong sense of community among educators, staff, students, and families, where every individual can enhance the school’s vitality, including you.

We offer comprehensive professional development opportunities, competitive salaries, and an extensive benefits package. Our 10-acre campus features modern facilities, scenic outdoor areas, and a consistent connection to nature. The Ivy Compass program is at the core of experiential education at CHS, extending learning beyond the traditional classroom to promote personal growth, leadership, and active citizenship. This program revolves around four quadrants—North (New Horizons), South (Service Learning), West (World Citizenship), and East (Environmental Learning)—allowing students to engage with complex topics such as sustainability, social justice, feminism, Indigenous education, and global citizenship. Each grade partakes in an annual Outdoor Education trip and two themed experiential “Ivy Days.” The goal of this program is to cultivate inspired leaders and socially conscious agents of change.

We are in search of a Social Justice/Service Learning Teacher for the Senior School, playing a vital role in the South Quadrant programming. This position entails designing and leading interactive workshops and experiences, mentoring students in service-oriented projects, and overseeing community partnerships. As an Experiential Learning Facilitator, you will transform student initiatives into impactful projects. We seek an experienced and student-focused educator who is passionate about experiential learning and dedicated to assisting students in discovering their purpose while engaging with both local and global communities.

You should possess expertise in service learning and human rights education, with the capability to guide students through discussions on complex and often divisive topics. Valuing student agency, you appreciate collaboration with colleagues and recognize the importance of parents as partners in education. The ideal candidate is approachable, authentic, and supportive, with a commitment to professional development, reflective practice, and active involvement in the school community. At CHS, you will collaborate with intellectually curious students and a dedicated, inspiring team of colleagues who are equally passionate about learning. This fixed-term contract runs from September 2026 to February 2027 to cover a leave of absence.
