About the role

In this position, you will lead a close-knit team of teachers and teaching assistants, contributing to the educational experiences within your year group. Currently, the Early Years department comprises 2 nursery classes and 4 Reception classes, with a team of 13 dedicated educators. As the Early Years Leader, you will have a modest weekly teaching obligation without the responsibility of managing an entire class. This allows you to concentrate on leading the department through mentoring, coaching, and exemplifying best practices. Our school fosters a joyful and industrious community of educators who are passionate about their work and continuously seek improvement. This role is perfect for teachers aspiring to step into leadership within a larger school setting or for seasoned middle leaders eager for a new challenge.

We are in search of a leader who:

• Has experience in an Early Years department, whether in the UK or an international context.

• Possesses a strong understanding of Early Years practices, such as EYFS, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or IEYC, and is eager to support and enhance our IEYC approach.

• Is an exceptional classroom teacher, committed to upholding high standards and striving for excellence.

• Understands the developmental stages of children aged 0-5, including cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.

• Is enthusiastic and innovative regarding Early Years education.

• Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain a successful team.

• Can inspire and motivate staff and children to achieve the highest standards.

• Demonstrates a genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to their holistic development.

• Has previous experience in middle leadership roles, such as leading a subject area or year group.

• Maintains a positive attitude toward innovation and change, demonstrating resilience and enjoyment in facing new challenges.

• Keeps abreast of the latest educational research and knows how to adapt and apply it effectively within their context.

• Is dedicated, adaptable, and understands the demands of working in a bustling school environment.

• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, guiding their team to do the same.

This position provides the successful candidate the chance to deeply engage in student learning while playing a key role in mentoring and coaching our Malaysian teachers and TAs in the Early Years Department. TISKL employs the International Primary Curriculum (IEYC and IPC) alongside the National Curriculum for England, and we effectively utilize White Rose Maths. Familiarity with these curricula is advantageous but not mandatory.

Candidates should submit the contact details for two referees, including one from your current or most recent Principal/Headteacher.

Please be aware that candidates must hold a recognized teaching qualification and have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience. International experience is highly valued.
