About This Role

We are excited to announce an opening for an exceptional Teaching & Learning Coach to become part of our Senior Leadership Team. This pivotal leadership position reports directly to the Principal and encompasses a comprehensive school-wide responsibility to promote excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with both senior and middle leaders, including the SENCO and phase leaders, to foster a culture of high achievement, innovation, and ongoing improvement throughout the school.

This role presents a thrilling opportunity for a dedicated and experienced educator to influence pedagogical practices, support staff development, and ensure that students consistently achieve high standards of progress and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead the advancement of teaching and learning throughout the school, with an emphasis on pedagogy, progress, and academic excellence
• Promote exceptional performance in both internal and external assessments
• Create and implement a comprehensive professional development program for all teaching personnel
• Mentor and coach teachers to cultivate reflective practices and inventive teaching methodologies
• Conduct constructive lesson observations and engage in quality assurance initiatives
• Assess and enhance the quality of feedback and assessment practices across the institution
• Guarantee that schemes of work, lesson planning, and assessment documentation align with GEMS standards
• Assist in executing school improvement priorities and contribute to strategic planning efforts
• Oversee internal inspection procedures, including audits, reporting, and follow-up actions
• Identify and disseminate best practices throughout the school, encouraging collaboration and continual enhancement
• Participate in staff recruitment processes, including conducting micro-teach sessions
• Collaborate closely with the SLT to monitor progress toward school objectives and provide regular updates

Academic & Pastoral Responsibilities

• Establish strong professional relationships with teachers, nurturing a culture of openness and aspiration
• Assist staff in cultivating exceptional teaching and assessment methodologies
• Lead training sessions on teaching and learning during staff development days
• Advocate for inclusive, differentiated teaching that accommodates the needs of all learners
• Engage in external networks, peer reviews, and continuous professional development

General Responsibilities

• Exemplify and advocate for the GEMS Core Values and Code of Conduct consistently
• Contribute to the broader life of the school, including duties, events, and after-school initiatives
• Assist in maintaining inspection readiness, school self-evaluation (SEF), and school development planning (SDP)
• Represent and promote the school positively within the local community
• Uphold respect for local culture, customs, and laws, ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times
• Undertake additional tasks as reasonably assigned by the Principal

Person Specification

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (essential)
• Recognized teaching qualification (essential)

Experience
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role concentrating on teaching and learning
• Proven history of enhancing classroom practices and student outcomes
• Background in coaching, mentoring, and delivering professional development

Skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Capability to inspire, challenge, and support staff at every level
• Proficient in utilizing data and assessment to foster improvement
• Strong ICT skills to advance teaching and learning innovation
