IB English B & ELL Teacher (MSHS)

Raffles American School (RAS) is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic ELL teacher to become a part of our Middle & High School team for the academic year 2026.

Position Overview

Raffles American School Bangkok is in search of a qualified, student-focused English B / ELL Teacher to join our Middle and High School English Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching IB English B (Language Acquisition) while also enhancing the Middle School English Language Arts program and delivering specialized English language support for our multilingual students.

This position is a vital part of the English Department, concentrating on advancing students' abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and academic English. The teacher will collaborate closely with fellow educators to ensure comprehensive support for students in both language acquisition and English literacy.

Teaching and Learning

• Instruct IB English B (Language Acquisition) courses within the Diploma Programme.

• Teach Middle School English Language Arts, including Grade 6 ELA.

• Provide targeted ELL instruction aimed at enhancing students' English proficiency.

• Design and implement engaging lessons that adhere to standards and promote literacy and language growth.

• Differentiate instruction to accommodate students from diverse language backgrounds.

• Utilize formative and summative assessments to track student progress and inform instructional decisions.

• Offer timely and constructive feedback to students.

Collaboration and Department Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Middle and High School English Department on curriculum development and teaching practices.

• Engage in department meetings, joint planning sessions, and professional development.

• Ensure alignment between English Language Arts and language acquisition courses.

• Share effective strategies and resources tailored for multilingual learners in English classrooms.

Student Support and School Engagement

• Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

• Maintain clear communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance.

• Act as a homeroom teacher or advisor if assigned.

• Participate in school events, activities, and extracurricular programs as needed.

Professional Responsibilities

• Pursue ongoing professional development related to IB programs, literacy instruction, and language acquisition.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the English and language acquisition programs.

• Support school initiatives concerning curriculum development, assessment practices, and accreditation.

• Adhere to the school’s professional standards and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field.

• Valid teaching qualification or certification.

• Experience teaching secondary English, English Language Arts, or courses in English language acquisition.

• Proven experience assisting multilingual learners in a secondary school environment.

• Preference for candidates with IB English B teaching experience and/or IB Category 1 training in Language Acquisition.

• TESOL, TEFL, EAL certification, or similar qualifications in language acquisition are advantageous.

We offer competitive salaries for fully qualified and licensed teachers in full-time roles. There is no additional housing stipend. Candidates will be reimbursed for their flight to Thailand and provided with round-trip airfare to their home country at the conclusion of their contract (for overseas applicants only). RAS will cover visa and work-permit costs. Additionally, we provide medical, accident, disability, and life insurance.
