About This Role

Job Overview: Established in 2015, Anne Hill International offers international education for students aged 2-13 and is set to expand with a secondary school campus opening in the near future. Our mission centers on providing accessible, high-quality international education, while our vision focuses on cultivating well-rounded, globally aware, lifelong learners.

Currently, our school serves around 350 students hailing from 30 different countries, supported by a committed team of 30 teachers, also representing diverse backgrounds.

The secondary school campus is scheduled to launch in August 2026, introducing a new curriculum grounded in the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and Cambridge Lower Secondary, leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). We are proud members of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Role Responsibilities

We seek a Teacher of Spanish (Years 7 through 10) who possesses the professional capability to develop and enhance initiatives within our evolving program. While familiarity with the Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE frameworks is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Moreover, the ability to instruct a second subject, such as English as a Second Language or a humanities/social studies topic, would be advantageous.

All educators are expected to engage in the pastoral/homeroom curriculum and contribute to after-school activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Subject Teachers are entrusted with the academic advancement and pastoral care of their students, adhering to the school’s Guiding Statements, curriculum, and policies.

1. Foster high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
- Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages risk-taking in learning and builds student confidence.
- Develop lessons with specific objectives that promote active participation, independence, cooperation, and cross-curricular links.
- Maintain high expectations consistently through strong relationships and inclusive practices.

2. Promote continuous progress and outcomes for all students.
- Understand student backgrounds to tailor learning experiences, guiding progress through curriculum sequencing and prior knowledge.
- Encourage student reflection, responsibility, and conscientious attitudes towards independent study.

3. Exhibit strong subject and curriculum knowledge.
- Create learning experiences that reinforce knowledge, spark interest, and challenge students.
- Continuously enhance professional knowledge through ongoing development, applying this expertise to classroom practices with a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and scholarship.

4. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.
- Design and execute purposeful lessons that address diverse student needs, establishing clear objectives, providing constructive feedback, and utilizing evidence-based strategies to encourage advancement.
- Build positive relationships in the classroom and collaborate with colleagues to adopt a unified, student-centered approach that supports both learning and wellbeing.

5. Tailor teaching to accommodate student strengths and needs.
- Work with students to establish clear, meaningful goals and adjust lessons to meet individual needs using various strategies such as differentiation, questioning, active learning, and technology.
- Use assessment, feedback, and reflection to inform teaching practices, support progress, and cultivate an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and challenged.

6. Utilize assessment effectively and productively.
- Systematically evaluate student learning through diverse methods, offering clear feedback to facilitate improvement and advancement.
- Consistently leverage assessment data to inform instructional practices, guiding planning, and ensuring all students achieve their potential.

7. Ensure the quality of educational provision.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing clear feedback and guidance.
- Prepare and use resources that align with student needs while engaging support staff in planning and instruction.
- Manage time effectively and conduct academic reporting diligently through updates, reports, and parent meetings to accurately depict student progress.

Qualifications and Experience

- A University/College degree in a relevant subject area is preferred.
- PGCE or equivalent certifications are required.
- Ideally, candidates should have three years of relevant experience (though this is not essential).
- A demonstrated history of supporting students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with additional needs (e.g., English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) is desirable.
