Job Description:
Brookes Moscow, an esteemed international school with a significant global educational impact, is inviting applications for the Head of Science position.

The Head of Science will report directly to the Head of Upper and Senior School. This role requires the creation of a supportive and positive learning atmosphere, along with the development of engaging activities that allow students to apply their learning in meaningful ways. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching Chemistry to Upper and Senior students with diverse abilities and skill levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach Chemistry for Grades 6–12, including AP where appropriate.
• Design assessments aligned with AP standards, including FRQs, document analysis, and extended response questions.
• Foster critical thinking skills among students.
• Engage in departmental planning, curriculum assessment, and resource development.
• Uphold high academic standards while promoting student wellbeing.
• Be considerate of colleagues’ needs and contribute positively to teamwork, deadlines, and departmental unity.
• Actively participate in departmental meetings, adhere to policies, and contribute to the effective operation of the department.
• Encourage professional conversations, share insights on teaching practices, and assist fellow teachers in enhancing their methodologies and initiatives.
• Participate in and contribute to departmental and school-wide activities.
• Actively support cross-curricular connections and Leadership in Action initiatives.
• Stay informed about current developments in the subject area and the broader educational landscape.
• Conduct lesson observations for subject teachers and provide constructive feedback.
• Develop high-quality unit plans that meet the latest international standards and practices.
• Organize and implement subject-specific planning and assessment standardization across all grades.

REQUIREMENTS

• A university degree in Education, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in the education sector.
• A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
• A valid teaching qualification is required.
• Experience in teaching high school English; AP experience is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches.
• Capability to differentiate instruction for various learning styles.
• Proficient in English.
• A culturally responsive teaching approach with a strong focus on safeguarding.
• High professionalism and a commitment to child welfare.
• Recent and consistent engagement in extracurricular activities.
• Respect for all members of the school community, regardless of position, gender, age, or ethnic background.
• A proactive and solution-oriented attitude toward work.

Compensation
