SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (Supply) On-Call/Supply Opportunities

An exciting opportunity awaits you with the Ministry of Education, Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch, at Trillium Demonstration School, dedicated to supporting students with learning disabilities. Our school is committed to providing high-quality education within a nurturing environment. We are currently on the lookout for Special Education Teachers who are passionate about making a positive impact throughout the province and are available for on-call/supply positions at Trillium Demonstration School in Milton.

Daily rate(s): Certified Supply Teachers will receive a daily rate of $262.09.

  • Competition # PDSB26-003 - Special Education, Supply Teacher positions, Trillium Demonstration School, Milton.

These positions will involve teaching in either Elementary or Secondary homeroom settings, with possible assignments in subjects such as Math, English, History, Science, or others as needed. Candidates with strong literacy skills and relevant experience, as well as junior/intermediate and/or senior qualifications, are preferred. Familiarity with the Empower program is an advantage.

What we are looking for:

Qualifications:

  • A valid certification and good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers is required; teacher candidates with a Transitional Certificate or those in the process of obtaining their OCT are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred: Special Education qualifications (minimum Part 1).
  • Required: Appropriate division qualifications for the role.

Abilities:

  • Strong literacy skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who have learning disabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of language acquisition/development, program modifications/accommodations, learning strategies, and progress monitoring/evaluation.
  • Proven success in literacy/language development.
  • Experience in teaching children to read.
  • Familiarity with the use and integration of inclusive/assistive technology.
  • A proactive approach to innovation and staying informed about educational research relevant to students with learning disabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and partner with lodging staff.
  • Proficient in using online learning platforms and delivering instruction remotely.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
