The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and talented Visual Arts Teacher with experience in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to join our Junior School. This part-time, permanent role is set to begin in the 2026-27 academic year. In a setting that prioritizes social-emotional learning, the ideal candidate will collaborate with a dedicated team, working closely with the Head of the Junior School, Assistant Heads, PYP Coordinators, and Learning Leads. This position is currently available and is expected to commence in August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Creating a classroom environment and relationships from a social-emotional learning perspective that encourages and supports both academic growth and personal development.
- Motivating students to acquire the skills, attitudes, and knowledge essential for building a strong foundation for their educational journey, tailored to each individual’s strengths.
- Fostering positive relationships with parents, faculty, and fellow staff.
- Ensuring that the curriculum delivered, assessed, and taught aligns with IB PYP and Branksome Hall standards, providing suitable differentiation.
- Developing long-term plans, unit plans, and lesson plans that encompass all aspects of the IB PYP curriculum, with a focus on inquiry-based learning.
- Diligently maintaining all required documentation in accordance with IB and school protocols.
- Regularly communicating updates regarding student progress to students, colleagues, and parents, including formal reports and parent-teacher conferences.
- Keeping abreast of current best practices in the subject area and teaching methods through professional reading, workshops, and other professional development avenues.
- Actively participating in faculty and division meetings and consistently collaborating with grade teams to plan, evaluate, and enhance the written curriculum.
- Taking initiative in and contributing to co-curricular activities and the Art Showcase.

Candidate Profile:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution focused on Visual Arts.
- Certification from the Ontario College of Teachers or an equivalent degree with P/J qualifications in Visual Arts.
- A minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience.
- Preferred experience with Kindergarten to Grade 2 classes.
- Familiarity with the IB curriculum is a significant asset.
- Proficiency with relevant technology and capability to work in a laptop environment.
- A strong emphasis on innovation and teamwork.
- Competent in utilizing technology to facilitate educational programs and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a collaborative team member.
- Strong time management skills.

Target Hiring Range:
Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined by relevant teaching experience, educational qualifications, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The salary grid ranges from $70,903.08 to $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of relevant experience, and $101,615.33 to $134,998.82 for over 6 years of relevant experience.
