About This Role

We are seeking a passionate and innovative kaiako to join our Year 7–8 hāpori working in a collaborative co-teaching environment alongside another kaiako, kawaihina approx 45 learners. Ngākōroa School is a full primary (Year 0–8), established in 2022 in the growing Auranga community in Drury.


This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues in a modern, flexible learning space, shaping our kura in its foundational stage.


Our ideal kaiako will be:



  • a relationship-focused, high-expectation practitioner who connects well with senior learners

  • skilled at designing engaging, meaningful learning programmes that challenge and extend Year 7–8 ākonga

  • a team player who thrives in a co-teaching, collaborative hub environment

  • able to support learners to develop independence, agency, and leadership

  • committed to fostering inclusive, strength-based learning environments

  • willing to grow your capability in tikanga and te reo Māori

  • enjoy working with this age group, supporting them to grow strong sense of identity, leadership, confidence, and the skills they need to succeed.
