About This Role

Cambridge International School (CIS) located in Bratislava, Slovakia, is looking to hire a dedicated and talented Upper Primary Class Teacher. This position is for the academic year 2025/26, commencing on 20th August 2025.

Reporting to: Upper Primary Coordinator

Job Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to provide exceptional pastoral care while facilitating academic advancement for a class of students aged 8 to 12. Upper Primary Class Teachers exhibit significant care, enthusiasm, and commitment to their students, fostering positive relationships with them, their parents, and fellow staff members.

Main Duties

- Collaborate closely with the year group team to design and implement a cohesive, high-quality teaching approach that encompasses planning, instruction, and learning.
- Mentor and support each student individually, both within and outside the classroom setting.
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe and welcoming for all learners.
- Keep accurate records for tracking and documentation purposes.
- Cover classes in instances of staff absence or unavailability.
- Regularly participate in playground and canteen duties to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and relevant staff to ensure effective and clear communication channels.
- Adhere to school policies in all aspects of school life.
- Lead and assist with school events and training when required.
- Always act as a positive role model, taking into account the school’s reputation.

Key Tasks

- Teach and support all students within the class.
- Assist each student in reaching their full potential and achievements.
- Develop agreed action plans and track student progress and concerns.
- Monitor students’ attendance and punctuality, addressing issues as necessary.
- Conduct timely assessments and grading according to established assessment timelines.
- Communicate with the parents of each student as needed, setting up or attending meetings if required.
- If applicable, collaborate with relevant staff such as the SEN Coordinator and Subject Specialists.
- Maintain thorough records and produce consistent written reports and evaluations.
- Prepare lesson materials in an organized manner ahead of time.
- Keep classroom displays updated to enhance student learning and promote excellence.
- Have a well-prepared cover folder available at all times.
- Organize safe, curriculum-related trips with comprehensive risk assessments.
- Contribute to the end-of-year school yearbook and class evaluations.

Desired Candidate

We are in search of a passionate and skilled Upper Primary Class Teacher with a minimum of two years’ experience in planning and delivering a primary curriculum (such as the national curriculum, Cambridge curriculum, IB curriculum, etc.) to join our school. Each class teacher is provided with a modern classroom equipped with the necessary resources to succeed. The ideal candidate will be responsible for offering high-quality education, inspiring a love of learning in students, and helping them become mindful, compassionate individuals ready to make a positive impact in the world.

Qualifications

- A bachelor’s degree in education is essential.
- A master’s degree in education is preferred.
- Minimum two years of successful teaching experience with primary-level students.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is required.

Experience

- Demonstrated experience in teaching primary-aged students.
- Background in curriculum development and lesson planning.
- Familiarity with diverse teaching methodologies.

The initial contract will be for a two-year fixed term, with the first year subject to agreement, and may be renewed in the future by mutual consent. As is standard in quality schools, there will be a three-month probationary period, which will be detailed in the employment contracts.

Other Information

Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (full-time)

Attendance at weekly primary staff meetings and training is mandatory, as well as supporting school events outside regular hours, such as parent-student-teacher conferences and school performances, as directed by the Head of Primary and/or Director.
