Salary: Up to £43,635 per annum
About the Role
In the position of Head of Music, your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring effective communication with the Examinations Officer, Data Manager, parents, and senior leadership to meet all deadlines and requests.
- Managing daily administration and staff within the department, which includes supporting NQTs, supply staff, and participating in staff recruitment.
- Leading and enhancing high-quality teaching and learning for KS3 and KS4, which entails managing schemes of work, lesson planning, student grouping, and curriculum implementation.
- Evaluating departmental performance through data analysis, lesson observations, work scrutiny, and routine performance reviews.
- Presenting departmental development and student performance data to the senior leadership team and external partners as needed.
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the department.
- Organizing extracurricular opportunities, subject competitions, House events, and outreach activities to enhance student engagement and promote excellence.
- Ensuring timely and accurate submission of examination entries, maintaining strong communication with the SENDCo and Academic Support to guarantee full access to the curriculum for all students.
- Leading departmental and moderation meetings, promoting best practices and maintaining well-organized classrooms with current displays.
- Undertaking Form Tutor duties and any reasonable additional tasks as assigned by the Headteacher or Deputy Head.
