About This Role

Marshland High School are looking to employ an Exam Invigilator to join their team, to protect the integrity of examinations, helping to ensure optimal exam conditions for all students. To uphold and safeguard the regulations and requirements of the relevant examining bodies.


  • Salary: Scale D, Point 6, £13.91/hour
  • Casual Contract there are no fixed hours/weeks.
  • Normal working hours will be between 8:00am and 17:00pm. It may be necessary to work out of normal working hours.

Responsibilities will include but not restricted to:

To support the Exams Officer with the day-to-day operation of examination venues. This duty may include:


  • Assisting with setting-up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with strict procedures
  • Assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues
  • Offering advice and guidance to unregistered candidates without allocated seats
  • Ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside examination venues
  • Invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures
  • Checking attendance during examinations
  • Escorting candidates from venues during the examinations as required, and supervising candidates whilst outside examination venues
  • Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures
  • Assisting with the preparation of script envelopes
  • Supervising candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue and ensuring that candidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner
  • Acting as Readers and Scribes to support those students with Access Arrangements (training will be provided)
  • Complying with Awarding Body Inspections.

You will be asked to make a criminal conviction declaration if you are shortlisted for the post.
