Duties and Responsibilities

The Coach of Teaching and Learning (Primary School) (CTL) is responsible for enhancing teaching effectiveness at CAIS by promoting the professional growth of fellow educators. This role may include:

  • Assisting and mentoring novice teachers in developing and demonstrating effective teaching practices using the Growth Matrix while fostering an inspiring learning environment that engages students;
  • Supporting colleagues by sharing successful teaching strategies and nurturing an interactive learning atmosphere;
  • Helping teachers expand their skills, knowledge, and attributes to improve their teaching effectiveness;
  • Encouraging collaborative, reflective, and shared practices;
  • Leading professional learning and development initiatives across the school.

Qualifications and Experience

The CTL role may involve various forms of support, such as:

  • Coaching, leading professional learning groups, facilitating professional reading and discussion sessions, developing reflective practices, conducting classroom observations, mentoring novice educators, creating classroom management strategies, and spearheading professional learning programs within the school.

Candidates for the CTL position should demonstrate expertise in several of the following areas:

  • Utilizing evidence to inform teaching and learning

  • Creating opportunities to share contemporary educational research, best practices, and ongoing initiatives with colleagues
  • Being an astute observer and providing timely, constructive feedback to fellow educators

Relevant experience for candidates in the CTL role may include:

  • Proven effective teaching experience
  • Successful collaboration with fellow educators to enhance teaching practices
  • Experience mentoring novice educators
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring other teachers
  • Leading or facilitating professional development for fellow educators
