Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet all qualifications; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education are highly regarded.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficient in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Background in differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
- Experience in establishing a positive learning atmosphere using effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to cultivate respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Ability to connect with students outside of the classroom when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student supports
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a school team
- Ability to learn from and contribute to a community-focused environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Rankin Inlet, Nunavut: $18,517
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be reviewed.
