About This Role
GEMS Al Barsha National School is looking for a seasoned Assistant Principal to become a part of the Secondary leadership team for the upcoming academic year.
In the role of Secondary Assistant Principal, you will champion the school’s vision, core values, mission, aims, and policies. Your focus will be on enhancing the leadership and management of the school while ensuring the highest standards in teaching, learning, curriculum, student achievement, and pastoral care within the secondary team.
The responsibilities of the Assistant Principal include:
- Actively participating in the strategic planning and self-review processes of the school.
- Taking charge of leading, developing, and managing teaching and learning, the curriculum, target-setting, assessment, tracking, recording, and reporting within the secondary team.
- Playing a significant role in the development of the curriculum alongside senior and middle leaders as well as teaching staff.
- Collaborating with the senior leadership team to oversee target-setting, assessment, and data tracking within the secondary team.
- Being accountable for the standards of attainment, progress, achievement, and behavior within the secondary team, monitoring and evaluating these areas to identify further improvement actions.
- Possessing a thorough working knowledge of the KHDA/DSIB UAE Inspection Framework and Supplement, UAE Vision 2021, and the National Agenda, utilizing this knowledge to support leadership and management in the secondary team.
Required Skills:
- A Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
- An accredited leadership qualification or currently enrolled in a leadership development course.
- Demonstrated skills in change leadership and innovation.
- A strong commitment to promoting and supporting the School’s vision, values, and ethos.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Proven innovation leading to elevated standards and enhanced motivation among students and staff.
- Knowledge and understanding of competency-led curriculum frameworks.
- Familiarity with what defines high-quality educational provision and strategies to achieve it within the school.
- Evidence of successful performance against set targets.
- A drive, enthusiasm, determination, and boundless energy aimed at improving the opportunities and experiences for students.
- The ability to inspire high expectations, enthusiasm, and commitment among staff.
- Leading initiatives in careers and future skills education across the school.
- Coordinating parent partnerships and communication.
- Line management of Heads of Department.
