GEMS FirstPoint School is on the lookout for a remarkable Assistant Head Teacher (Primary) to join our esteemed Primary leadership team starting August 2026.
This role presents an exciting leadership opportunity within a large, premium-tier British curriculum institution, which has received an Outstanding rating from BSO and Very Good from KHDA. The selected candidate will be instrumental in enhancing teaching and learning, curriculum advancement, and student outcomes throughout the Primary phase (EYFS–Year 6).
This dynamic leadership position will have its specific responsibilities tailored to the strengths and expertise of the chosen candidate. It is ideally suited for a highly skilled and knowledgeable Primary leader eager to make a tangible impact on pedagogy, curriculum, and data-driven school improvement.
The position blends strategic leadership with a strong presence in the classroom.
Key priorities:
Teaching and learning
• Lead the development of high-quality teaching and learning across the Primary phase.
• Implement research-informed, evidence-based practices within classrooms.
• Encourage adaptive teaching strategies to cater to the diverse needs of all students.
• Strive for excellence in all areas of the curriculum.
Curriculum and innovation
• Participate in the design, review, and enhancement of the curriculum across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
• Ensure robust progression, challenge, and alignment with the National Curriculum and MOE subjects.
• Assist subject and phase leaders in the execution and evaluation of the curriculum's impact.
Assessment and data
• Utilize data and tracking systems to monitor student progress and identify trends.
• Lead and facilitate student progress meetings and intervention planning.
• Contribute to the strategic advancement of the whole-school assessment, feedback, and reporting systems.
• Ensure assessments are effectively utilized to inform teaching and achieve strong pupil outcomes.
Quality assurance and accountability
• Monitor, assess, and ensure quality academic provision throughout the Primary phase.
• Conduct learning walks, book reviews, moderation processes, and professional coaching discussions.
• Support and challenge middle leaders to maintain consistently strong student outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and execution of the Primary School Improvement Plan.
Staff development and culture
• Foster professional development and instructional coaching within the Primary phase.
• Exemplify outstanding classroom practice.
• Hold colleagues accountable with clarity, integrity, and professionalism.
• Encourage a culture of high expectations, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
