We are in search of an exceptional Design Technology teacher who embodies ambition and dynamism, sharing our mission of viewing teaching as a vocation. This is a thrilling opportunity to join Rugby School Japan (RSJ).

The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing a diverse range of students from Year 7 to the Sixth Form. Key duties will include delivering outstanding teaching to all pupils from Year 7 onward. Design Technology is a mandatory subject for all students until Year 9. The most talented students at RSJ will have the chance to excel in Design Technology, with many aspiring to study the subject at prestigious universities. Our Design Technology department is bustling with various enrichment opportunities, and the chosen candidate will play a crucial role in leading these initiatives alongside the department head.

Additionally, the post holder will be expected to engage fully in the pastoral and co-curricular activities of the School.

RSJ is the second international sister school of Rugby School, one of the most esteemed educational institutions in the UK. It upholds Rugby’s values and aims to become one of the leading schools in Asia. Located in Kashiwa-no-ha, just 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo, RSJ is an international co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 11-18. The School commenced operations in September 2023, providing students with Rugby’s academic and co-curricular programs, culminating in IGCSE and A-level qualifications, and enabling access to top universities worldwide. A Rugby education emphasizes the holistic development of each individual.

Rugby is celebrated for its innovative and highly effective educational approach. As a coaching institution, we seek staff who are dedicated to professional development and prioritize personal growth.

The School operates as a day and boarding institution seven days a week, including evenings during term time. Pastoral care, co-curricular activities, cultural events, and sports are conducted outside standard school hours, and all staff members are expected to contribute.

Interviews

Candidates who make the longlist will be interviewed on a rolling basis, with interviews conducted online via video link.

Qualifications, Identification, Health and Background Checks

RSJ is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and expects all applicants to share this commitment. Candidates must bring documentation to the interview to verify their identity, including an attested (by a notary) birth certificate and qualifications. If selected after the interview, the offer will be contingent upon satisfactory references and police checks. We will request the most recent DBS check for all candidates and may require additional background checks. Furthermore, those currently residing and working outside the UK must provide a police check from their national checking agency. All references will be verified, and we require at least two references, one of which must be from your current or most recent employer.
