The Primary School is currently seeking applications from qualified, enthusiastic, and experienced educators to join our dedicated team in August 2026 for a Short-Term contract of up to 6 months to cover Maternity Leave. Teacher – Additional Learning Support Needs (ALSN) (Job Ref#A158-26-27)

The appointed individual will enhance student learning within the Primary Curriculum as part of the ALSN Team, helping students develop effective strategies to address specific learning needs. The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline along with an internationally recognized teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, a Bachelor of Education, or H.Dip.Ed, and have at least three years of pertinent teaching experience. A postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs would be beneficial.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the role will encompass, but is not limited to:

- Collaborating with learning support colleagues to implement systems for identifying, assessing, and reviewing special educational needs.
- Closing achievement gaps to enable students to meet high learning standards.
- Communicating with class teachers regarding classroom factors that influence student progress.
- Identifying and recommending effective teaching strategies for individual learning needs.
- Assisting in finding ways to overcome learning barriers through individual, small group, and in-class instruction.
- Coordinating with classroom and subject teachers to ensure students with additional educational needs can access the curriculum effectively.
- Aiding classroom and subject teachers in developing and implementing Learning Support Plans across all phases.
- Executing and evaluating Individual Education Plans and other relevant interventions, maintaining thorough documentation for future consultations with parents and/or external agencies.
- Collaborating with specialists such as Guidance Counsellors, Speech and Language / Occupational Therapists, and Educational Psychologists.
- Assessing the effectiveness of personal teaching and interventions by monitoring student progress.
- Supporting classroom teachers and subject specialists in fostering self-esteem and independence in supported students, encouraging their participation in all school activities.
- Assisting the SENDCo in the strategic enhancement of learning support policies and provisions.

Furthermore, the qualifications, experience, and skills required for the position are:

- Familiarity with the British curriculum is preferred.
- Essential experience and understanding in teaching children with learning challenges such as dyscalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism, and social, emotional, and mental health needs, or a combination of these difficulties.
- Current knowledge and experience with the revised English National Curriculum 2014 and the UK SEND Code of Practice 2014 and/or Cayman Code of Practice.
- Previous experience in a Support for Learning or Special Education Needs role.
- Exceptional classroom practitioner, passionate about facilitating student learning with creative and innovative approaches.
- Experience in providing tailored learning opportunities to support, challenge, and meet the needs of all learners is essential.
- Proficient in Management Information Systems, such as SIMS, and Microsoft Office tools, particularly MS Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
- Highly organized, ensuring up-to-date record keeping.
- Experience in a multicultural international school setting is an advantage.
- Candidates must fully support and adhere to the Christian ethos of the school.

The salary range for this position is CI$50,700.00 – CI$69,950.00 per annum, commensurate with experience according to the school’s salary scale. Benefits include:
