Job Overview
Capital School Bahrain is on the lookout for a seasoned and innovative Head of Science to spearhead the development of our Science department across Key Stages 3 and 4. This position will play a pivotal role in enhancing our offerings and preparing for growth in A-Level courses.

The individual in this role will be instrumental in maintaining high standards in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring excellent outcomes in IGCSE while building the foundation for success at the post-16 level. The ideal candidate will either be a current Head of Science or an accomplished Deputy Head of Science with a proven track record in A-Level teaching and departmental leadership.

The Role
As the Head of Science, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the Science department, encompassing Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Driving the planning, sequencing, and assessment of the curriculum from KS3 to KS5
• Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all Science disciplines
• Utilizing assessment and performance data to enhance attainment and progress
• Leading the preparation, delivery, and development of IGCSE and A-Level Science courses
• Line managing Science staff while promoting their professional development and coaching
• Overseeing practical science provisions, including compliance with health and safety regulations
• Contributing to whole-school improvement priorities and leadership initiatives

Person Specification
Essential

• Qualified teacher status in a Science specialism (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
• Strong subject knowledge in the Science curriculum
• Proven experience teaching A-Level Science
• Previous experience in a Head of Science or Deputy Head of Science role
• Experience delivering the English National Curriculum and IGCSE specifications
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience in an international or British overseas school
• Experience leading curriculum development or improving examination outcomes
• Commitment to inclusive practices, innovation, and ongoing professional development
