About This Role

Overview:
The IB PYP Kindergarten Teacher plays a crucial role in creating a vibrant and interactive learning atmosphere that supports the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of children aged 1.5 to 6 years. This educator will implement the IB PYP curriculum, instilling a passion for learning and guiding students to develop as curious, reflective, and responsible global citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Implementation:

Craft and execute a thorough curriculum that aligns with the IB PYP framework.
Design, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities that encourage inquiry-based learning.
Incorporate interdisciplinary units that promote connections across different subjects.

2. Classroom Management:

Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
Utilize positive behavior management techniques to direct student conduct.
Cultivate an inclusive classroom culture where all students feel respected and valued.

3. Student Assessment:

Perform formative and summative assessments to track student progress.
Provide consistent feedback to students and parents regarding academic achievements and personal growth.
Keep precise records of student progress in accordance with school policies.

4. Parent and Community Engagement:

Effectively communicate with parents and guardians about their child’s learning journey and development.
Take part in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
Engage with the wider school community to advance the school’s mission and vision.

5. Professional Development:

Remain informed about the latest IB PYP practices and early childhood education strategies.
Engage in continuous professional development opportunities offered by the school or external organizations.
Collaborate with colleagues to exchange best practices and develop innovative teaching methods.

6. Collaboration and Teamwork:

Partner with other teachers and staff to ensure a unified and consistent approach to education.
Contribute to the formulation of school-wide initiatives and curriculum development.
Support the school’s objectives by taking part in collaborative planning meetings.

7. Cultural Sensitivity:

Exhibit an understanding and appreciation of diverse cultural backgrounds, especially in the context of an international setting in Japan.
Integrate cultural awareness into the curriculum and classroom activities.

8. Qualifications and Skills:
・Educational Background:
 Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or related fields. IB PYP certification or training is highly preferred.
・Experience:
 At least two years of teaching experience in an IB PYP environment or an international kindergarten is preferred.
・Language Skills:
 Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Japanese is beneficial but not required.
・Interpersonal Skills:
 Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
・Creativity and Innovation:
 Ability to design engaging, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity and a love for education.
・Adaptability:
 Willingness to modify teaching methods to accommodate diverse learners and adapt to the unique cultural landscape of Japan.

9. Working Conditions:
Hours: Full-time role with standard school hours and occasional evenings or weekends for school events or meetings.
