At Nun Academy, we nurture creativity, critical thinking, and growth, fostering a distinctive educational community. We are seeking an exceptional Teacher of Art to join our expanding Primary & Lower Secondary team.
Main Duties:
- Developing and delivering engaging Art lessons (Primary–KS3; KS4 preferred) that align with the Cambridge/UK curriculum.
- Enhancing students' artistic skills, creativity, visual literacy, and critical thinking by utilizing a diverse range of media (drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, with a preference for digital art).
- Encouraging experimentation, independent thinking, and reflection while building students' confidence and unique artistic voices.
- Implementing assessments to inform teaching and interventions; providing clear and constructive feedback to students and their parents.
- Leading or engaging in exhibitions, competitions, enrichment initiatives, and school-wide creative projects.
- Ensuring compliance with best practices regarding safeguarding, inclusion, health & safety, and risk assessments within the art studio environment.
- Collaborating with colleagues in the department on curriculum development, progression, moderation, and enrichment opportunities.
About You:
- A degree in Art / Fine Art / Art & Design (or a related discipline) along with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE/QTS or an equivalent international qualification).
- Demonstrated experience teaching Art within the Cambridge and/or UK curriculum; experience in preparing students for IGCSE/GCSE Art is advantageous.
- Strong classroom management capabilities with inclusive strategies for multilingual learners, and proficiency in digital tools (Adobe suite, digital portfolios, Google/Microsoft platforms).
- Ability to create an inspiring studio environment that displays student work and encourages artistic risk-taking.
- A growth mindset, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to student wellbeing and safeguarding.
