About This Role

We are looking for a remarkable and energetic Primary Assistant Headteacher to become part of our Senior Leadership Team. This crucial leadership position is ideal for a dedicated, values-oriented individual who is passionate about achieving high standards in teaching, learning, student wellbeing, and academic outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strategic vision, operational expertise, and the capability to motivate staff, engage families, and play a significant role in the ongoing development and success of our Primary phase.

The Primary Assistant Headteacher is an integral member of the Primary Senior Leadership Team, aiding in the strategic, operational, and educational leadership of the Primary phase. This position assists the Headteacher in ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, wellbeing, and pupil outcomes. The Assistant Headteacher provides visible and consistent leadership throughout the school, significantly contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
- Assist the Headteacher in executing the school’s vision, values, and strategic objectives.
- Participate in whole-school self-evaluation and improvement planning processes.
- Exemplify high professional standards while fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and accountability.

Teaching, Learning and Standards
- Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning through lesson observations, learning walks, book reviews, and data analysis.
- Support Key Stage Leaders, Year Heads, and Subject Leaders in promoting progress and improving attainment.
- Utilize assessment data to identify trends, highlights, and areas needing development.
- Encourage uniformity in planning, feedback, and classroom practices throughout the Primary phase.

Pastoral Care, Behaviour and Safeguarding
- Promote exemplary behaviour and positive student conduct across the school.
- Collaborate with pastoral leaders to prioritize pupil wellbeing and inclusion.
- Adhere to safeguarding protocols and contribute to a robust safeguarding culture.
- Engage with parents professionally to address concerns in a solution-oriented manner.

Operational Leadership
- Aid in the efficient daily operation of the Primary school.
- Manage key operational systems as directed by the Headteacher.
- Assist in planning timetables, organizing events, and establishing school routines.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are consistently applied.

Staff Development and Performance
- Line manage assigned middle leaders or teaching staff.
- Contribute to appraisal and performance management processes.
- Offer coaching, mentoring, and professional development assistance.
- Encourage collaboration and professional discussions among teams.

Parental and Community Engagement
- Foster strong communication with parents to build positive partnerships.
- Represent the school at meetings, events, and community activities.
- Support initiatives that promote student leadership, confidence, and extracurricular involvement.

Professional Expectations
- Show commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Stay updated on current educational research, inspection frameworks, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain the school’s safeguarding responsibilities at all times.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
