About This Role

We are in search of an outstanding and energetic Primary Assistant Headteacher to become part of our Senior Leadership Team. This crucial leadership position is ideal for a driven, values-oriented professional dedicated to achieving excellence in teaching, learning, wellbeing, and student outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strategic vision, operational prowess, and the capability to motivate staff, engage with parents, and significantly contribute to the ongoing development and excellence of our Primary phase. The Primary Assistant Headteacher will play a vital role within the Primary Senior Leadership Team, aiding in the strategic, operational, and academic management of the Primary phase. This position assists the Headteacher in maintaining high standards in teaching, learning, behaviour, wellbeing, and student outcomes. The Assistant Headteacher is expected to provide visible and consistent leadership throughout the school and play a pivotal role in fostering continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
- Assist the Headteacher in enacting the school’s vision, values, and strategic goals.
- Contribute to comprehensive self-evaluation and improvement planning for the entire school.
- Exemplify high professional standards and foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and accountability.

Teaching, Learning and Standards
- Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning via lesson observations, learning walks, book reviews, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with Heads of Key Stage, Heads of Year, and Subject Leaders to drive progress and enhance attainment.
- Utilize assessment data to pinpoint trends, strengths, and areas needing improvement.
- Encourage uniformity in planning, feedback, and classroom practices throughout the Primary phase.

Pastoral Care, Behaviour and Safeguarding
- Promote high standards of behaviour and positive conduct among students.
- Partner with pastoral leaders to prioritize pupil wellbeing and inclusion.
- Adhere to safeguarding protocols and help cultivate a robust safeguarding culture.
- Communicate effectively with parents to address concerns in a constructive and solution-oriented manner.

Operational Leadership
- Facilitate the efficient daily operations of the Primary school.
- Supervise key operational systems as directed by the Headteacher.
- Assist in timetable organization, event planning, and the establishment of school routines.
- Ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures.

Staff Development and Performance
- Directly manage assigned middle leaders or teaching staff.
- Participate in appraisal and performance management processes.
- Offer coaching, mentoring, and professional development assistance.
- Encourage collaboration and professional dialogue among teams.

Parental and Community Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with parents to foster constructive partnerships.
- Represent the school at meetings, events, and community engagements.
- Support initiatives that bolster student leadership, confidence, and participation in co-curricular activities.

Professional Expectations
- Show a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Remain updated on current educational research, inspection frameworks, and regulatory demands.
- Always adhere to the school’s safeguarding obligations.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
