Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons, materials, and content that align with the Saulteaux Curriculum specific to Yellow Quill First Nation.
- Employ a variety of learning methods (including digital, visual, and hands-on activities) to cater to different learning preferences.
- Create a safe, engaging, and supportive atmosphere for all students.
- Conduct initial assessments and continue with both formal and informal evaluations to monitor student progress.
- Evaluate student performance and produce reports for parents and staff.
- Grade assignments, assessments, and tests, providing constructive feedback and highlighting strengths to encourage learning.
- Maintain effective communication with students, colleagues, stakeholders, and parents/caregivers.
- Implement behavior management strategies to oversee student conduct, document behaviors, and track development.
- Stay updated on relevant policies and standards, particularly concerning child protection and safety.
- Participate in continual professional development and work collaboratively with colleagues to improve educational outcomes for all students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education Degree
- Valid Professional “A” Teaching Certificate
- Familiarity with Saulteaux Culture is preferred, or a readiness to learn
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Dedication to innovative and flexible teaching approaches that meet diverse student needs
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and engage with the community
