Middle School Principal – Raffles American School
Working Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Reports To: Executive Principal
The Middle School Principal plays a crucial leadership role in shaping and guiding the Middle School program at Raffles American School. This position is responsible for overseeing the Middle School division, providing support to educators, and fostering a strong academic and pastoral environment for students.
Collaboration with the school's leadership team on strategic and operational matters is essential, as the Principal contributes to the ongoing development of the school. Key duties include supervising the curriculum's implementation, assisting in accreditation activities, and ensuring that educational practices meet the school's standards and long-term goals.
As the school continues to grow, the Middle School Principal will be involved in both short-term and long-term planning, which includes the creation of programs and systems designed to address the evolving needs of Middle School students in the context of the new campus.
This role is a part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), working collaboratively to ensure consistency, alignment, and continuous improvement across the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and guide the Middle School division effectively.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate middle school educators and staff.
- Foster a professional and collaborative atmosphere among the middle school team.
- Ensure the curriculum is executed and aligns with school standards.
- Aid in accreditation processes and initiatives focused on school enhancement.
- Monitor student performance and implement support systems that encourage academic achievement and well-being.
- Handle student behavioral and disciplinary matters with fairness, professionalism, and consistency.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, students, and staff.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team on school-wide initiatives and strategic planning.
- Contribute to growth planning and future campus expansion efforts.
- Advocate for and lead professional development opportunities for middle school faculty.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify instructional priorities and areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching qualification or license.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in an educational environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage diverse situations with professionalism, tact, and flexibility.
- Collaborative mindset and effective functioning as part of a leadership team.
- Excellent organizational skills and capability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Experience in an international school setting is preferred, but not required.
