ROLE SUMMARY:

St. Peter’s International School, located in Palmela near Lisbon, serves around 1,500 students aged 4 months to 18 years on a modern 37,000 m² campus. The school offers a bilingual curriculum (Portuguese/English), Cambridge programs, and the International Baccalaureate, including boarding options for older students. We seek a passionate and highly qualified IB / IGCSE Physics Teacher to lead the IGCSE and IB Physics programs beginning in August 2026. This position offers an exciting chance for an educator dedicated to sparking scientific curiosity, promoting critical thinking, and deepening students’ understanding of the physical world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and deliver engaging, customized lessons in IGCSE and IB Physics, as well as Cambridge Lower Secondary Science when necessary.

• Facilitate a comprehensive understanding of core physics principles, including mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, energy, and modern physics.

• Create an energetic and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, experimentation, and independent thinking.

• Connect physics concepts to practical applications, scientific research, and technological innovations.

• Integrate hands-on laboratory experiences, investigative projects, data analysis, and inquiry-driven learning approaches.

• Continuously assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support both academic and personal growth.

• Engage in curriculum development, ensuring that material meets international standards and remains relevant and stimulating.

• Promote student participation in extracurricular activities, including science clubs, competitions, and enrichment programs.

• Nurture a respectful, supportive, and inclusive classroom culture that emphasizes student well-being.

• Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to enhance learning and development.

• Dedicate yourself to ongoing professional growth and contribute to school initiatives, events, and mentorship opportunities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A degree in Physics, Education, or a related field (teaching qualification is preferred).

• Experience teaching IGCSE and/or IB Physics or comparable international curricula.

• A genuine enthusiasm for Physics education and the ability to inspire curiosity through scientific inquiry.

• Strong practical laboratory skills and confidence in experimental teaching methods.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Experience in an international or multicultural environment (preferred).

• Proficient command of English and a clear commitment to student well-being and safeguarding.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
