Job Description:
Brookes Moscow, a respected international school with a notable influence in global education, is seeking applications for the Head of Science role.
The Head of Science will report to the Head of Upper and Senior School. This position entails creating a supportive and encouraging educational environment while developing engaging activities that allow students to apply their knowledge in practical ways. The successful candidate will be tasked with teaching Chemistry to Upper and Senior students with varied abilities and skill levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach Chemistry for Grades 6–12, including AP where applicable.
- Create assessments that align with AP standards, such as FRQs, document analyses, and extended response questions.
- Promote critical thinking skills in students.
- Participate in departmental planning, curriculum evaluation, and resource development.
- Maintain high academic standards while supporting student wellbeing.
- Be mindful of colleagues’ needs and contribute positively to teamwork, deadlines, and departmental cohesion.
- Engage in departmental meetings, adhere to policies, and facilitate the efficient functioning of the department.
- Promote professional dialogue, share teaching strategies, and assist peers in improving their practices and initiatives.
- Engage in and contribute to departmental and school-wide events.
- Actively support interdisciplinary connections and Leadership in Action projects.
- Stay updated on current developments in the subject area and the wider educational field.
- Conduct lesson observations for subject teachers and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop high-quality unit plans that align with the latest international standards and practices.
- Organize and implement subject-specific planning and assessment standardization across all grades.
REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree in Education, Chemistry, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the education sector.
- At least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- A valid teaching qualification is mandatory.
- Experience teaching high school English; AP experience is a significant asset.
- Familiarity with inquiry-based and project-based learning methodologies.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles.
- Proficient in English.
- A culturally responsive teaching approach with a strong emphasis on safeguarding.
- High professionalism and a strong commitment to child welfare.
- Recent and ongoing involvement in extracurricular activities.
