About This Role

Position Summary:

The Business Management Teacher for secondary education is dedicated to providing outstanding instruction in business, entrepreneurship, and management fundamentals, while fostering critical thinking, analytical abilities, and the practical use of economic and organizational concepts. This position involves mentoring students in enhancing their financial literacy, leadership skills, and understanding of global business practices within a secondary school setting. Courses offered may include International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Business Management, high school Business Management, Economics, or similar subjects tailored to student interests.

Primary Responsibilities:

Instructional Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development

● Design and implement a comprehensive business management curriculum for grades 6–12 (or applicable secondary grades).

● Develop courses that may encompass:

○ Business Management

○ Entrepreneurship

○ Marketing Principles

○ Basic Finance and Accounting

○ Foundational Economics (as suitable)

○ Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility

○ IB Business Management (if relevant)

● Create engaging instructional resources that align with educational standards.

● Integrate real-world business situations, case studies, and project-based learning methodologies.

● Incorporate both global and local business viewpoints.

● Leverage technology and digital tools relevant to modern business environments.

2. Student Assessment

● Design and implement formative and summative assessments that meet curriculum standards.

● Evaluate student understanding through projects, presentations, case studies, and exams.

● Provide constructive and timely feedback to support student growth.

● Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.

● Prepare students for both internal and external assessments and examinations (including IB assessments if relevant).

3. Applied Learning & Enrichment

● Organize experiential learning opportunities such as simulations, business projects, and entrepreneurship activities.

● Encourage student participation in business competitions and innovation challenges.

● Support student-led initiatives or entrepreneurship clubs where appropriate.

● Advocate for financial literacy and practical business skills.

● Contribute to school-wide initiatives, events, and academic programs.

● Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student performance and accomplishments.

● Stay updated on trends in business education, global economics, and entrepreneurship.

● Attend professional workshops, IB training (if applicable), and continuing education opportunities.

● Engage in continuous professional development in pedagogy and subject-specific areas.

● Promote innovation in teaching and learning practices.

4. Additional Expectations

● Supervise business-related clubs or extracurricular activities (e.g., entrepreneurship or investment clubs).

● Support academic competitions and student business initiatives.

● Incorporate career awareness and practical skills into instructional practices.

● Cultivate a positive school environment.

● Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

● A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

● Teaching certification is preferred.

● A minimum of 2 years of secondary-level teaching experience is required.

● Relevant professional or industry experience in business, finance, or management is highly desirable.

● Experience in an international school context is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

● Comprehensive understanding of business management principles, entrepreneurship, and global business practices.

● Ability to teach business concepts through real-world applications and case study methods.

● Familiarity with financial literacy, marketing, operations, and organizational management principles.

● Capacity to effectively assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

● Strong grasp of formative and summative assessment practices and the use of data to guide instruction.

● Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to enhance student success.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Proficiency in English; knowledge of French or Arabic is advantageous but not required.

● Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology tools.

● Prior experience in international teaching or work, especially in a multicultural environment, is a plus.

Compensation
