About This Role

At GEMS Westminster School - RAK, we provide the esteemed National Curriculum for England, equipping students for IGCSE and A Level Examinations. This curriculum not only imparts crucial knowledge but also nurtures creativity and encourages a growth mindset among both educators and learners, creating a vibrant and personalized educational atmosphere that caters to individual needs.

In terms of leadership and management, you will assist in realizing the school’s vision and ethos. You will contribute to, implement, and assess the effectiveness of the School Development Plan relevant to your domain. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the efforts of your team or the entire school are inclusive and that issues are addressed within curriculum and pastoral management. You will also ensure that policies are effectively put into practice by your team, and you'll alert the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to any that may require revision. Collaborating with SLT, you will spearhead the school’s self-evaluation process in your area, which includes conducting lesson observations, monitoring school standards, and facilitating improvement. Additionally, you will contribute to the formulation of self-evaluation and policy documents as needed. You will manage the transitions of students to and from your phase, as well as within it. Promoting interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning will be essential, and you will be an active and effective member of the senior/middle leadership team, serving as a positive role model for your team regarding teaching, behavior, and classroom management.

In terms of teaching and learning responsibilities, you will fulfill the typical duties of a class teacher while leading a core school priority and advancing school improvement initiatives across the institution. You will hold overall responsibility and accountability for your area, ensuring continuity, consistency, balance, alignment, and progression in the curriculum. Regular meetings relevant to your area with appropriate colleagues will be essential, as will developing, demonstrating, and promoting teaching and learning activities that cater to a full range of ages and abilities.

Regarding monitoring and assessment, you will work alongside the SLT to contribute to, monitor, and evaluate the effects of teaching and student progress through data analysis, ensuring that this information informs planning and target setting. You will monitor standards across the school, which includes conducting work scrutiny and quality assurance, as well as reviewing long and medium-term planning.

In managing resources, you will be responsible for organizing, planning, and evaluating school programs pertinent to your area of responsibility. You will also evaluate, organize, and oversee the use of resources.

For staff development, you will act as a reviewer for the appraisal arrangements of all identified staff. You will take a leading role in identifying group and individual training needs and provide support to colleagues in your area of responsibility, fostering a whole school approach. Acting as a role model, mentor, or consultant to colleagues as appropriate, you will promote collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork. Staying current with developments in your area and disseminating pertinent information will also be part of your role.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
