About This Role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to become a member of our Middle/High School team. The anticipated start date is 01 August 2026.

Primary Duties include: Upholding and promoting the principles and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values. Deliver the designated curriculum while showcasing thorough and current knowledge of both curriculum and subject matter. Develop and execute engaging lessons that inspire students. Design and utilize suitable materials and classroom environments that accommodate various learning styles. Provide written documentation of lesson planning and preparation when requested. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans, and more. Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently. Instruct students based on their individual needs, employing teaching strategies that cater to diverse abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, students with lower academic skills, and those who are gifted and talented. Assign and evaluate work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic growth and achievements while using assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual students' needs. Demonstrate proficiency in using media and technology within the classroom. Foster the overall development and well-being of students and offer educational guidance. Engage with external parties as necessary (e.g., officials from the Ministry of Education). Participate in performance appraisals and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, course outlines, and pastoral arrangements. Join and lead, when appropriate, the school's co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences. Oversee and manage safe and appropriate student behavior. Develop and implement strategies to promote self-discipline and handle disruptive behavior effectively. Exemplify and encourage cultural awareness and understanding, while instilling a passion for learning. Assist in the organization and planning of school events and activities (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days, etc.). Maintain regular communication with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them informed of their children's progress in a manner that respects student confidentiality. Demonstrate commitment by contributing additional effort beyond the standard workday as needed. Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as necessary. Carry out other responsibilities as directed by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
