Main Purpose

The Head of UAE MoE Curriculum will:
Deliver strategic leadership and management across all subjects governed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) framework. This position ensures exemplary teaching and learning standards, full compliance with regulations, and the successful embedding of national identity and values throughout the broader school curriculum.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:


Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, or a related field.


A valid UAE Teaching License (TLS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.


At least 2–5 years of proven leadership experience at the Head of Department level within a UAE educational context.


Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic along with high-level English skills (both written and verbal).


Demonstrated success in achieving "Very Good" or higher ratings in KHDA/DSIB or ADEK inspections specifically related to MoE subjects.

Skills and Knowledge


Thorough knowledge of the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum standards and framework.


Comprehensive understanding of the KHDA/DSIB Inspection Framework and the UAE National Agenda Parameter.


Capacity to analyze both internal and external data (e.g., IGCSE, PISA, TIMSS, and MoE assessments) to foster improvement within the department.


Strong ICT proficiency, including the ability to utilize AI and digital resources effectively for Arabic and Islamic education.


Exceptional interpersonal skills to facilitate communication between school leadership and MoE/KHDA officials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy


Direct the strategic vision for the Arabic A, Arabic B, Islamic Education, and Social Studies departments.


Create and execute a comprehensive departmental action plan in line with the School Improvement Plan (SIP).


Ensure the curriculum is culturally relevant, adheres to UAE regulations, and is effectively outlined across all key stages.


Demonstrate exemplary classroom practices.


Regularly review pertinent school policies in collaboration with staff and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).


Advise and collaborate with colleagues in the classroom to support, monitor, and enhance the designated subjects.


Assist departmental leads in overseeing the instruction of Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects throughout the school.


Participate in the school’s Extended Senior Leadership Team.

Curriculum


Exemplify outstanding classroom practices.


Be accountable for the advancement of Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects across the entire school and for maintaining and enhancing standards.


Analyze assessment data to evaluate student progress in Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects.


Support staff in developing schemes of work that ensure continuity and progression of skills and knowledge throughout the school.


Collaborate with colleagues in the classroom to support, monitor, and develop Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects.


Assist teachers in tracking the instruction of Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects across the school.

Administrative


Support the SLT and Heads of School in managing a designated budget for acquiring books and resources for Arabic instruction.


Organize and evaluate resources, advising staff on their application and storage.


Arrange informative curriculum meetings for parents regarding Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects.


Ensure adherence to safe practices in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines, particularly in areas of responsibility.

Teaching, Learning, and Assessment


Oversee the quality of teaching through regular lesson observations, work reviews, and learning walks.


Ensure the implementation of adaptive teaching methods to cater to the diverse needs of all learners.


Supervise the moderation of assessments to guarantee accuracy and consistency in reporting student progress to parents and regulatory bodies.

Compliance and Inspection


Serve as the primary liaison for MoE and KHDA concerning curriculum requirements.


Maintain all essential documentation, including teacher files, curriculum outlines, and student performance data to ensure readiness for inspections.


Lead the school’s initiatives in fulfilling the targets of the UAE National Agenda and the Moral Education/Innovation initiatives.

Staff Management and Development


Manage and evaluate MoE subject staff, identifying opportunities for professional development.


Conduct departmental meetings and provide high-quality CPD (Continuing Professional Development) for Arabic and Islamic educators.


Assist in recruiting top-tier staff in partnership with HR and Leadership teams.

Communication and Community


Cultivate strong relationships with parents, keeping them well-informed about their child’s progress in national subjects.


Promote the school’s ethos through organizing national events (e.g., UAE National Day, Flag Day, Ramadan activities).


Represent the school at governmental forums and cluster meetings.

Safeguarding


Comply with all statutory safeguarding guidelines (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) and school child protection policies.


Ensure that all curriculum materials utilized within the MoE departments align with UAE cultural expectations and safety standards.

General


Engage in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identifying learning, development, and training opportunities in consultation with the line manager.


Adhere to individual responsibilities regarding health and safety in the workplace as per the role.


The Governing Body is devoted to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young individuals and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.

Compensation
