The Opportunity

Queen Elizabeth’s School, Gurugram is on the lookout for a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join the inaugural team of our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), providing support to children in Nursery, FS1, and FS2 during their crucial early learning years.

The Role

Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant (stage: Nursery, FS1, FS2)

Reporting to: Class Teacher / Head of Pre-Prep School

Supporting Teaching and Learning

• Assist the class teacher in delivering captivating, age-appropriate, and play-based learning experiences that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and, where applicable, the National Curriculum for England.

• Aid in executing planned activities that enhance students’ curiosity, creativity, and foundational learning skills through both structured and child-initiated play.

• Provide focused support to individuals and small groups, reinforcing learning, assisting in language development, and encouraging active engagement.

• Help prepare learning environments, resources, and displays that are stimulating, inclusive, and developmentally suitable.

• Support the utilization of educational technology and learning tools in ways that boost engagement and early digital literacy.

• Promote inclusive practices by modifying activities and offering additional support to students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring enrichment or learning assistance.

• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and support teams to implement individualized learning strategies and care plans when necessary.

• Ensure that every child has the opportunity to engage in learning and participate fully, regardless of ability or background.

Student Wellbeing, Safeguarding, and Development

• Create a classroom culture grounded in respect, empathy, and high expectations, where every student feels safe, empowered, and recognized.

• Support students’ overall development by fostering their emotional well-being, resilience, social skills, and character alongside their academic achievements.

• Exhibit professionalism, emotional intelligence, and ethical conduct, serving as a daily role model for students.

• Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring compliance with school policies, local regulations, and best practices internationally.

Parent and Community Partnership

• Assist in fostering open and proactive communication with parents to establish strong partnerships and support each child’s learning experience.

• Help share insights regarding progress, behavior, and achievement through regular updates, parent meetings, and formal reports.

• Fully engage in parent-focused events, such as conferences, workshops, and celebration days, to nurture a welcoming and involved school community.

• Approach all family interactions with cultural sensitivity, ensuring that communication is respectful, inclusive, and considerate of diverse backgrounds.

Professional Growth and Collaboration

• Take an active role in your own professional development, participating in school-led training and external opportunities to stay at the forefront of educational excellence.

• Share best practices and collaborate with colleagues to refine methods, co-plan, and enhance teaching and learning throughout the school.

• Contribute to staff meetings, planning teams, and teaching and learning communities, demonstrating leadership in thought and practice.

• Lead or assist in delivering high-quality extracurricular activities, including clubs, competitions, and enrichment opportunities that enhance the student experience.

Curriculum Enrichment and Innovation

• Contribute to the ongoing development and contextualization of the school’s curriculum, ensuring it is broad, deep, and relevant to both international and regional contexts.

• Design interdisciplinary projects and inquiry-based experiences that foster critical thinking, global awareness, and cross-curricular connections.

• Ensure that cultural responsiveness is integrated into all planning and delivery, celebrating diversity and reflecting the values of the school’s global community.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field / Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).

• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

• A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a Cambridge International Curriculum environment.

• Previous experience with young students in a nursery or early years setting is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with EYFS principles and child-centered, play-based learning methodologies.
