About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College, The British School of Madrid (Soto de Viñuelas) is on the lookout for a seasoned and highly accountable Head of Boarding (Residential Director) to spearhead all residential, pastoral, and operational elements of the Summer Camp program taking place from June 18 to July 25, 2026. This senior leadership position encompasses comprehensive responsibility for student wellbeing, safeguarding, staff oversight, and the efficient operation of daily residential activities.

The Residential Director will supervise academic, activities, and residential teams, manage intricate logistics such as accommodations, transportation, medication, and dietary requirements, and serve as the main point of contact for parents throughout the program. This role demands strong leadership skills, outstanding organizational abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and make decisive choices in high-stress scenarios.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Lead the residential camp, ensuring exceptional pastoral care for all participants.


Oversee academic, activities, and residential teams, providing clear guidance and support.


Create and manage staff schedules, timetables, and daily operational plans.


Supervise accommodations, dorm assignments, transportation, medication, allergies, and dietary needs.


Organize arrivals, departures, and airport transfers.


Lead and oversee excursions and off-site activities, ensuring adherence to safety and safeguarding standards.


Manage communication with parents, addressing concerns, incidents, and emergency updates.


Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety protocols, and emergency procedures.


Conduct staff training days and lead daily staff meetings.


Support incident response and medical situations in conjunction with camp medical personnel.


Handle petty cash and camp resources responsibly.


Ensure staff adherence to school procedures, safeguarding protocols, and professional conduct.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


C2 level proficiency in English and C1 level in Spanish.


A minimum of 3 years’ experience in residential life within similar programs.


At least 5 years of professional experience in recreation, camps, outdoor education, youth programming, or related fields.


Previous experience working with high school students as a camp counselor, tutor, or in a similar capacity.


Demonstrated experience in supervising staff and providing effective leadership to teams.


Strong organizational, administrative, and team management capabilities.


Experience in managing schedules, staff responsibilities, and day-to-day operations.


Experience in parent communication and incident management.


Experience coordinating large groups of children in residential environments.


Proficiency in managing logistics such as transportation, dorm assignments, medication, allergies, and special needs.


Experience leading training sessions and daily staff meetings.


A strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.


Ability to maintain effective leadership under crisis conditions.


Experience managing petty cash and camp resources.


Capacity to lead and supervise excursions, ensuring student and staff safety.


A proven track record in pastoral care and student support.


A degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).

Compensation

719 € - 720 € per week (720 EUR per week for 5 weeks Accommodation, meals and medical insurance covered)
