About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais (KCC), a member of the Inspired Education Group, is in search of a dedicated and experienced Residential Primary Deputy – Head of Boarding to join the leadership team for the KCC Summer Camp, which will take place from 24 June to 25 July 2025.

This senior residential leadership position reports directly to the Summer Camp Director and is responsible for the pastoral care, safety, and well-being of both boarding and day students throughout the camp. Key responsibilities include managing boarding routines, overseeing health and first aid matters, facilitating family communication, supervising staff, and organizing the logistics of arrivals, departures, and excursions.

The Residential Primary Deputy – Head of Boarding collaborates closely with the Camp Director and Boarding Coordinator to ensure adherence to all boarding, safeguarding, and welfare protocols at all times. In the absence of the Camp Director, this individual may assume their responsibilities. This role is residential; therefore, accommodation, meals, and accident insurance will be provided on-site. The position requires working during evenings, late shifts, and overnight duties on a rotational basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Lead the pastoral care for both boarding and day students, ensuring their well-being, safety, and appropriate behavior.


Ensure compliance with all boarding and school procedures, including routines, medication administration, and night protocols.


Take charge of first aid and health matters in conjunction with the Camp Director and nurse.


Act as the emergency contact and respond to incidents, fire alarms, or safeguarding issues when necessary.


Maintain communication with families and manage sensitive welfare concerns.


Oversee student records, medical forms, consent documentation, and daily boarding logs.


Assist with staff supervision and contribute to the planning of duty rotas.


Organize and supervise arrivals, departures, airport transfers, and excursions.


Safeguard student valuables, passports, and pocket money.


Support evening activities, final exhibitions, and overall camp operations.


Attend coordination meetings, training sessions, and safeguarding workshops.


Act as Camp Director as needed in the absence of the Director.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


Advanced or Proficiency level English proficiency (C1–C2).


Experience in providing pastoral care and supervision for children in residential or camp settings.


Strong leadership and organizational abilities, capable of managing routines, documentation, and staff schedules.


A calm and responsible approach to managing emergency situations.


Experience in communicating with families and addressing sensitive well-being issues.


Capability to supervise staff and ensure consistent adherence to procedures.


Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with senior camp leadership.


High standards of personal hygiene, appearance, and professional behavior.


Valid authorization to work within the EU.


Ability to provide a criminal record certificate issued within the last three months.


A CV with a photograph, scanned copies of degrees and certificates, and two written references.

Compensation

500 € - 600 € per week (Salary: Euros 2400 gross for the whole period. Included: accommodation, meals, accident insurance Day Off: one full day and one night off per week)
