University Guidance Counsellor

Location: NACIS Shanghai

NACIS Shanghai is seeking to hire a University Guidance Counsellor to join our dedicated University Guidance Counselling (UGC) team.

This role presents an exciting chance to help shape a generation of resilient and innovative global citizens poised to make a positive impact on the world. You will enhance the educational experience of our students through initiatives such as the Global Campus, Nord Anglia University, and partnerships with esteemed institutions like The Juilliard School, MIT, UNICEF, IMG, and King’s College London.

THE SCHOOL

Established in September 2016, NACIS Shanghai provides a stimulating, creative, and rewarding educational environment. Our school welcomes students aged 6 to 18 years, fostering a progressive and internationally minded community. We offer a unique bilingual, blended learning curriculum that culminates in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Located in the Minhang District of Shanghai, our school features state-of-the-art facilities that support our innovative teaching approach.

Our staff comprises individuals from 10 different countries, with a strong representation from China, the UK, Ireland, and North America.

The role:

We are looking for an exceptional and experienced University Guidance Counsellor whose main responsibilities will include:

• Applying your comprehensive understanding of the application processes for top universities in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and beyond to offer thorough guidance to students.

• A solid knowledge of BTEC is preferred.

• Becoming an integral part of the University Guidance Counseling (UGC) team and building strong connections with university admissions representatives.

• Working alongside students, parents, and colleagues to provide tailored university guidance, helping students realize their college ambitions.

• Assisting in the execution of the University Guidance program, ensuring it meets set objectives and maintains high standards.

• Collaborating with BETC, IB, and A-level educators to synchronize the programs with college preparatory initiatives.

• Contributing to career events, including guest speaker sessions, university fairs, and career conventions, to inform students about the various possibilities and opportunities that exist.

• Actively engaging in the broader development and growth of the school.

The Successful Candidate will possess:

• A recognized qualification and/or substantial experience as a University Guidance Counsellor within an educational setting.

• The ability to teach related content skills, including research and PSHE.

• Familiarity with premier curriculums, including BTEC, A-level, IBDP, and international curriculums, along with associated assessment strategies.

• An understanding of effective teaching and learning theories, with the ability to cater to the individual needs of all learners through organization, differentiation, and learning strategies.

• Strong people management skills.

You will be eager to collaborate and share your specialized knowledge, serving as a representative of the school. Your communication style will be confident and adaptable, allowing you to engage with diverse audiences and build robust relationships with parents and students. You should be able to thrive in our dynamic international setting and meet visa requirements for China, including holding a bachelor’s degree, passing a non-criminal background check, and having a minimum of 24 months of teaching experience.

Compensation

CN¥30,000 - CN¥36,000 per month (Competitive package provided)
