About This Role

St. Anne’s School, an independent co-educational institution in Madrid, provides a rigorous and enriching British education for students from ages one to sixteen. For students aged 16-18, the school offers the IB Diploma Programme. Situated in Chamartín, one of Madrid's most prestigious and appealing residential neighborhoods, the school is conveniently accessible from various parts of the city. We are on the lookout for enthusiastic and innovative educators to join our committed teaching staff.

Job Purpose:

We are in search of a Computing and Computer Science teacher to deliver lessons in accordance with the UK curriculum. The ideal applicant will be responsible for inspiring students through captivating lessons that enhance their learning and development within the British educational framework. This role involves creating a stimulating and inclusive atmosphere that promotes inquiry-based learning and academic excellence, while also encouraging students' academic advancement, critical thinking, and independent learning. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive group of educators with access to numerous professional development opportunities.

Accountabilities:

1. Deliver engaging and well-organized lessons that align with the school’s curriculum, ensuring students understand and master the subject matter.

2. Offer timely and constructive feedback on student assignments, assessments, and examinations to support their academic growth.

3. Employ innovative teaching techniques and instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

4. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the curriculum, ensuring it meets the programme’s standards and objectives.

5. Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and promotes respect and open-mindedness.

6. Keep accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic progress, providing regular reports to students, parents, and school administrators.

7. Act as a form tutor, overseeing the emotional and academic wellbeing of students within your form group.

8. Stay informed about the latest educational research and best practices to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.

9. Actively engage in professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences to expand teaching expertise.

10. Collaborate with school leadership and faculty to ensure adherence to IB regulations, maintaining the school's designation as an authorized IB World School.

11. Contribute to the broader life of the school community.

Relationships:

- Build strong professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.

- Work closely with Heads of Section, the IBDP Coordinator, and other teaching and non-teaching staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

- Maintain regular communication with parents to discuss student progress, academic objectives, and improvement strategies.

- Collaborate with support staff, including learning support specialists and counselors, to provide holistic support for students' academic and personal needs.

- Establish positive connections with external stakeholders, such as IB examiners, universities, and educational organizations, to remain engaged with the wider educational community.

The ideal candidate will possess:

An undergraduate degree in a relevant field.

A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

Experience teaching the appropriate curricula.

Knowledge of Cambridge and IB assessment methods.

The ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering a passion for the subject and critical thinking.

A commitment to ongoing professional development.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

A solid understanding of student wellbeing and pastoral care.

Proficiency in English (C2 level).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
