About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at our Priory Lane Satellite Provision. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality speech, language and communication interventions to support learners’ communication needs, emotional wellbeing, and access to learning. You will work with individual pupils and groups, contributing to assessment, formulation, and intervention planning, while supporting staff to develop communication-friendly environments.

Working closely with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, therapists, and teaching staff, you will play a key role in promoting a communication-rich, inclusive learning environment that reflects the Academy’s aims and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group speech and language therapy interventions for pupils across primary and secondary phases.

  • Contribute receptive and expressive communication strategies to individual student profiles and plans to support person-centred communication strategies throughout the day

  • Assess pupils’ speech, language and communication needs and develop, review, and adapt therapy plans and targets.

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, including those with social communication difficulties and associated needs including autism and neuro-diverse conditions.

  • Work collaboratively with school staff, families (where appropriate), and external agencies (including CAMHS) to support pupil outcomes.

  • Contribute to creating communication-friendly classrooms and strategies to support staff practice, contribute to discussions regarding S&LT service design, delivery and prioritisation within the school.

  • Maintain safeguarding, professional standards, accurate record keeping, and engage in supervision and CPD.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration.

  • Experience delivering speech and language interventions to children and young people, ideally within SEMH or specialist settings.

  • Strong understanding of social communication needs and the impact of SEMH on communication and learning.

  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.

  • Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills, with commitment to supervision and professional development

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the evolving evidence base within relevant areas of Speech & Language therapy

Compensation

Scale NHS Band 5, Actual salary: £34,564.88 - £42,075.00 (FTE £35,867 - £43,661) (year)
