About This Role

Kingswood:

It is an exciting time for Kingswood Secondary Academy. We are privileged to serve one of the most deprived communities in Northamptonshire, yet our fantastic students are now in the top third of Northamptonshire schools in terms of their academic outcomes. Contextually, this places our students in the top 5 secondary schools, out of 42, in the county. If you’d like to find out more about how we and our students work together to achieve this, and you are a hard-working individual who enjoys being part of a team, then see the details below about coming in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.

At Kingswood, we know that most teachers have come into the profession to make a difference in the lives of young people, and not for the money! The staff at Kingswood make an incredible difference in the lives of the young people in our care. Based on our RISE values of Respect, Independence, Service to Community and Empathy, we have carefully cultivated a culture that is conducive to learning, where teachers can enjoy teaching and students can thrive and learn well. Lessons are settled and very purposeful, corridors are calm and students get on well with each other during social times. Staff turnover is very low, and staff attendance very high. If you feel this might be the environment where you can make a difference, then come and see for yourself with one of our Walk and Talks. This role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Kingswood’s Senior Leadership Team - an academy that is committed to providing the very best education to the students in our care. You will be an exceptional senior leader with a demonstrable commitment to helping all pupils achieve their best. This post arises due to the forthcoming promotion of an existing member of our Senior Leadership Team to take on Headship at one of our other GAT Academies. This role is very much focused on ensuring our students continue to achieve exceptionally high outcomes, make outstanding progress and therefore open ‘doors for the future’. You will enjoy a high level of visibility, autonomy and impact, and we are seeking an individual who can recognise our existing strengths - but challenge our community to even greater achievements. You will work alongside a very strong and experienced senior team to further secure an exceptional climate for learning to support the already good and improving student outcomes.

Our Walk & Talk invitation to you:

We warmly welcome potential candidates to come on what we refer to as a ‘Walk and Talk’. This usually takes less than an hour, can be during the academy day or after school has finished. We find this provides a great opportunity for candidates to get a really good insight into Kingswood, prior to submitting an application. Please email jlawson@kingswoodsecondaryacademy.org (Senior Deputy Principal) if you would like to come in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.

Apply as early as you are able:

We encourage early applications. When we feel we have strong applicants we tend to call to interview early.
