Required Qualifications

Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)
- Language Component: Inuktitut

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly valued.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written).
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education.
- Teaching experience in bilingual or ESL environments
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning
- Proven ability to create a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
- Proven ability to promote student wellbeing and engagement
- Ability to connect with students beyond the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instructional strategies and student support
- Ability to function effectively as part of a school team
- Experience contributing to and learning within a community-focused environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pangnirtung, Nunavut: $19,077
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently employed by the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction. Applications that do not include this documentation will not be considered.
