Collaborating closely with the Principal, you will work to strengthen relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners. Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education degree
- Valid teaching certificate that is recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways to Teach Canada)

Experience
- A minimum of 2 years in a formal or informal school leadership position (e.g., Vice-Principal, department head, instructional coach, or teacher-leader)
- At least 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher

- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive school environment that enhances the well-being of students and staff.
- Capacity to support instructional leadership alongside the Principal, with a focus on literacy advancement and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Experience in enhancing instructional practices through coaching, professional learning communities (PLCs), and leveraging student achievement data to drive student success.
- Ability to build and sustain positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders, particularly in northern and cross-cultural settings.

Assets and Preferred Experience
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written).
- Experience in facilitating education informed by Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
- Background in overseeing bilingual and ESL programming.

Instructional Leadership
- Graduate-level education training.
- Proven track record in fostering positive behavior and learning environments throughout the school (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behaviour Supports).

School Operations & Systems
- Experience assisting with the implementation of operational directives and departmental requirements, including collaboration with the District Education Authority (DEA) and Regional School Operations (RSO).
- Experience supporting site-based school operations, such as scheduling, supervision, student support processes, or contributing to school improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with school budgeting or resource management, aiding in responsible fiscal decision-making under the Principal's direction.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range (Certified Vice-Principal): from $108,201 prorated annually to $157,970 prorated annually.
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Clyde River, Nunavut: $22,978 prorated annually.
- Subsidized Housing: Available, with potential for shared accommodation.

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to provide a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications without this documentation will not be considered.
- Principals and Vice Principals are required to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility as a Nunavut Principal within three years of employment.
