About This Role

Uphold and promote the values and high standards outlined in the GEMS Core Values.

Provide the necessary curriculum while demonstrating thorough and current knowledge of both subject matter and curriculum requirements.

Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and utilize suitable materials and create a classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning styles.

Present written documentation of planning and preparation upon request. Maintain organized records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.

Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.

Educate assigned students according to their unique needs by employing effective teaching strategies that cater to various abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, and those with differing academic capabilities, including gifted and talented students.

Assign and evaluate student work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic growth, progress, and achievements, using assessment to tailor the curriculum to individual student needs.

Exhibit proficiency in utilizing media and technology in the classroom.

Foster the overall development and well-being of students while providing educational guidance.

Communicate with external stakeholders as necessary (e.g., officials from the Ministry of Education).

Engage in appraisal and performance management processes as well as ongoing professional development (CPD).

Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral care arrangements.

Participate in, and take the lead in appropriate instances, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school. Cultivate positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.

Monitor and oversee student behavior to ensure safety and appropriateness. Develop and implement strategies that encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior effectively.

Promote cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning.

Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.

Maintain regular communication with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values while keeping them informed about their child's progress, all while respecting student confidentiality.

Show initiative and commitment beyond the regular workday when tasks require extra effort.

Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned by direct and indirect supervisors or managers.

Handle administrative responsibilities, including recording student attendance, checking student organizers, and compiling statistics when requested.

Supervise classes and students during cover arrangements.

Participate in examination invigilation duties.

Carry out professional responsibilities and organizational tasks as reasonably assigned by the Principal.
