About This Role

Location: Chongqing

Responsibilities:
A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Mathematics in line with the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB standards.
- Have a deep comprehension of Mathematical concepts.
- Address student inquiries effectively, recognizing common misconceptions and errors in the subject area.
- Be familiar with all guidelines related to the secondary school curriculum and assessments.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Outline clear objectives for teaching, including content, lesson structure, and sequences that are appropriate for the subject and learners.
- Set ambitious expectations for student learning and engagement, establishing explicit targets based on previous performance and experiences.
- Identify students with special educational needs, as well as those who are gifted and talented, knowing how to access support for personalized assistance. If applicable, develop and document Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Provide effective instruction to whole classes, small groups, and individuals, ensuring that teaching goals are achieved while maintaining momentum and challenge.
- Use engaging teaching methods that stimulate student curiosity, effective questioning, clear presentations, and suitable resource use.
- Uphold high standards of student behavior, encouraging discipline through focused instruction and positive, constructive relationships.
- Foster positive behavior, boost self-esteem, and promote independent work among students to aid their educational journey in an ICT environment.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student achievement concerning learning objectives and utilize these evaluations to inform future teaching strategies.
- Grade and oversee students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive feedback, both oral and written, while setting goals for their development.
- Stay informed about the expectations for students related to the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5 when relevant.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Understand how to prepare and present informative reports to parents.
- Recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and create opportunities to link students' education with real-world and career-related examples.
- Value collaboration with external agencies beyond the school.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Recognize the significance of taking ownership of professional development and staying updated on research and advancements in pedagogy and subject knowledge.
- Be aware of professional obligations concerning school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Model appropriate presentation and conduct for the students in their care.
- Reflect critically on their teaching practices and use this feedback to improve their effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Cultivate productive working relationships with fellow professionals, including co-teachers, specialized educators, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:
- Choose and effectively use books, equipment, ICT, and other educational resources to achieve teaching objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree along with a teaching certificate or license, demonstrating strong subject expertise.
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a school setting.
- Uphold Yew Chung's values.
- Possess a genuine passion for teaching students.
- Display a rigorous approach to teaching across various year levels.
- Show a commitment to collaboration and teamwork.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
