About This Role

Location: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao, Tongxiang, Yantai, Hongkong.

Responsibilities:

A. Subject Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the Sciences as outlined in the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB.
  • Maintain a solid grasp of the subject matter related to the Sciences.
  • Address subject-related inquiries from students confidently, being aware of common misconceptions and errors within your area of expertise.
  • Familiarity with all secondary school curriculum and assessment standards.

B. Planning and Expectations:

  • Establish clear teaching goals, content, and lesson plans that are suitable for the subject and the students.
  • Set challenging and appropriate expectations for student learning and engagement, creating clear targets that build on students' previous achievements.
  • Recognize students with special educational needs as well as those who are gifted and talented, and know how to seek assistance to provide effective support. Implement and maintain records for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) where necessary.

C. Teaching and Learning Management:

  • Deliver effective instruction to entire classes, groups, and individuals to meet teaching objectives, maintain momentum and challenge, and optimize instructional time.
  • Employ teaching strategies that engage students, including stimulating their intellectual curiosity, effective questioning, clear presentation, and optimal use of resources.
  • Uphold high standards for student behavior, fostering a positive learning environment through focused teaching and strong, productive relationships.
  • Encourage positive behavior, boost self-esteem, and promote independent learning in students to enhance their educational experience within an ICT framework.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Evaluate the extent to which learning objectives have been achieved, using this data to inform future instruction.
  • Grade and monitor students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive feedback both orally and in writing, and setting goals for student advancement.
  • When relevant, understand the expectations placed on students regarding the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5.

E. Engagement with Parents and the Community:

  • Be proficient in preparing and delivering informative reports to parents.
  • Acknowledge that learning extends beyond the classroom and create opportunities to connect students' education to real-world examples.
  • Recognize the importance of collaborating with external agencies.

F. Personal Performance and Development:

  • Take charge of your professional growth and stay informed about the latest research and advancements in teaching methodologies and your subject areas.
  • Be aware of your professional obligations concerning school policies, guidelines, and practices.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students through your demeanor and conduct.
  • Critically assess your own teaching practices and leverage insights to enhance your effectiveness.

G. Collaboration with Staff and Other Professionals:

  • Forge productive working relationships with fellow educators, including co-teachers, specialized instructors, and support staff.

H. Resource Management:

  • Select and effectively utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other educational resources to achieve teaching goals.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree and a valid teaching certificate or license, with strong subject knowledge.
  • Have at least two years of full-time teaching experience in an educational setting.
  • Align with Yew Chung's values.
  • Exhibit a genuine passion for educating students.
  • Show a rigorous approach to teaching across various year levels.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork.
